Lauren Demerath is an actress, educator, and musician, who is proud to be a company member of both TUTA Theatre and The Saltbox Theatre Collective.

In her teaching work, Lauren is a private Voice and Speech and Acting coach for actors and artist. For two years, Lauren taught the Voice and Speech for Actors classes at The Second City Training Center.  As a voice teacher, Lauren pulls techniques from Alexander, Linklater, and Fitzmaurice in the hopes of giving her students a well-rounded set of exercises to help them connect with their breath, character, and fellow actors.  Lauren’s work at Second City has given her invaluable experience working with many different types of students and taught her the importance of being flexible with all kinds of learners.  As an acting and voice coach alike, Lauren prizes curiosity and creative problem-solving.  It is Lauren’s primary goal to work with students of any level and give them the tools they need in order to feel confident in their level of skill while feeling safe enough to explore new techniques.  Lauren carries the spirit of these values into her work  As TUTA's Education Coordinator. Lauren is passionate about inspiring and freeing theatre artists to experiment in a nurturing environment and develop their toolbox in ways that they hadn't yet imagined.

Lauren’s music career began when she was a performer in an Andrew’s Sisters tribute band called The All-American Sweethearts produced by The Towle Theatre.     Since working with The Sweethearts, Lauren has gone on to perform with Chicago cocktail band, LaTosca, and is a monthly member of The Wooden Nickel’s house band in Highwood Illinois.  You may also see her perform with Vat of Chocolate, The Soul Commitments, and the Demerath Jazz trio throughout Chicagoland.  Lauren’s newest musical endeavor is continuing to grow her vocal range while exploring various styles of music and learning the upright and electric bass.

As a performer, some of Lauren’s past performances include: Saltbox Theatre Collective’s Talking With (Actress), Prop Theatre’s Beth In July (Beth), TUTA’s Gentle (Lukerya), TUTA’s The Jewels (Ensemble and Maiden) TUTA’s The Anyway Cabaret (Ensemble), First Folio Theatre’s production of Cymbeline (ensemble), The Towle Theatre’s A Fabulous 50’s Christmas (ensemble) and Just Passing By Theatre Company’s productions of The Glass Menagerie (Laura), Cabaret (Sally).

Lauren Demerath earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also represented by Lori Lins Limited.
